These boots were made for walkin’ And that sure is what Rachael and four of her friends did on 14th August 2021.

Rachael and her friends, Annie, Fabienne, Sally and Katie decided to take on the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for The Give A Duck Foundation.  Rachael’s cousin Chloe is undergoing treatment for AML Leukaemia and was introduced to Chemo Duck by Play Specialist Linda at Glasgow Children’s Hospital .  Linda also gave Chloe’s mum a Huggable Hope for Chloe’s younger sister Emma and this has been great comfort particularly for the times the sisters have spent apart.

Rachael said: “We chose to support Give A Duck through the National Three Peaks Challenge after they provided a Chemo Duck & Huggable Hope to my little cousins Chloe & Emma.  These were a huge comfort to them during a tough time & really boosted the girls spirits!  Before we started the challenge I genuinely didn’t think I would manage to do it – but I think the adrenaline of what we were doing it for and the support we were giving each other from start to finish really helped us push ourselves!  And I actually enjoyed every bit of it even though it was raining up every peak!  We are delighted to have been able to support their fantastic work & provide many more families facing childhood cancer with ducks!”

Annie said: “I absolutely loved taking part in the National Three Peaks Challenge to raise money for this fantastic charity! When the going got tough & our legs felt heavy it was easy to keep motivated when we remembered the lives transformed by Give A Duck & the families who would benefit from our efforts. We are delighted to have raised so much money & hopefully awareness of their great work!”

The grand total raised by friends and family in honour of Chloe is now…

£6,515.67 = 260 ducks!!

Chloe’s mum Julie-Anne said: “WOW this is truly amazing. When I told Chloe, the first thing she asked to work out how many Chemo Ducks and Huggable Hopes this would give to other children and she was gobsmacked when she had seen the figure.  Thank you once again.”
