They were looking for a local charity to which donations would make a real difference and decided that they would donate a duck in the name of each new client, passing on the money to the charity a flock at a time.
Since late 2017 they have donated nine flocks (that’s 108 ducks) on behalf of clients. The Business Works team creates a certificate for each new client to let them know about the donation, which helps spread awareness of both the charity and the initiative.
Managing director Joanne Tomlinson said: “We know that every single donation makes a difference to sick children and their families at what must feel like the worst time of their lives. We liked the idea that each donation we make equates to something tangible with a direct benefit to people who need it, and our clients love it too!”
And the generosity of the Business Works team doesn’t stop there. At Christmas the staff donate in lieu of sending one another Christmas cards – their in lieu donations (£25), fund a Chemo Duck! And two team members, Kate Roberts and Sindy Smetham, joined #TeamGiveADuck for the 2019 Leeds 10K and raised an amazing £450 in sponsorship smashing their £250 target! Collectively the 10K team raised £3,128.84, providing 125 Chemo Ducks to children in Yorkshire.
