I first met Karen, Andrew and Harry in 2012 at Leeds Children’s Hospital, when Harry was diagnosed with leukaemia. In 2018, I began working for the charity, helping to grow and develop the charity from supporting five hospitals to now over 66 hospitals throughout the UK. I am constantly inspired and motivated by the positive feedback we receive from families and Health Play Specialists. It’s amazing to know that as a small charity based in Wakefield, West Yorkshire, we are supporting hundreds of families facing childhood cancer across the UK.
One main area of my role is to maintain and develop our relationship with the Health Play Specialists at the hospitals across the UK, to ensure we continue to move towards achieving our aim to provide a Chemo Duck for every family facing with childhood cancer. I also manage our social media channels, website and charity database.
I celebrate every success, however small and enjoy learning and adapting to face new challenges. I love making new connections to benefit the charity – be it a quick chat with a parent friend at the school gates or a phone call to a business where I believe there is opportunity. I am a creative thinker and love to share my ideas with our Fundraising Manager Elaine, together we’re on a mission to make Give A Duck grow and have great success! I live with my husband Jim, and our children Sidney and Stevie.
