Meet Aashna

20230304_172156
On 23 February 2023, Aashna was diagnosed with Acute Lymphoblastic Leukaemia and received her Chemo Duck via the Play Team at Great Ormond Street Children’s Hospital.

“Aashna got her Chemo Duck on the 5th day post her diagnosis with ALL. We are still in her induction phase and just like any other family, cancer struck us out of nowhere. When the play team gave her the duck, she had only read about ‘wigglies’ from a book in the hospital. She saw the tubes for the first time on the duck. The biggest help we have got from the duck is normalising the word ‘chemo’ for her as it was the first time, as a family, we were talking about chemotherapy so frequently. She’s looking forward to changing the ducky’s clothes.

As a parent, this duck means there are people who are thinking and working for children with cancer and makes me feel that I’m not alone. Bless the team behind the idea and the team that is keeping this initiative alive. Please keep Aashna in your prayers!” – Alpana, mum
