Every week, Clair volunteers at Give A Duck HQ and is quite simply a ray of sunshine!
Of course, our Tuesdays together always start with a nice cuppa and a check in with each other. Here’s what a typical day volunteering might involve:
- pack hospital duck orders and direct Chemo Duck requests from families
- reply to Duck Registrations (post out certificates, Chemo Duck appointment card sticker) and post sibling duck requests & outfits
- write Chemo Duck donation thank you cards
- organise the duck outfits from Blue Light Babies and Rivers Meet Chemo Duck Club
- count collection tub donations and send out certificate of thanks
- post out Duck Day fundraising pack requests and online shop orders
- post out Give A Duck running tops to charity runners
…and there’s more!
Clair is also…
- learning new IT skills including general housekeeping and data entry on the charity database
- excited to volunteer at Give A Duck events; Ladies Lunch in Leeds (Weds 17 May) and Golf Day at Moor Allerton (Fri 7 July)
- helping Give A Duck develop stronger relationships with the hospitals and families in 2023
Clair said: “’I really enjoy volunteering for Give A Duck and feeling like part of the team. It is a charity close to my heart and one which my brother and his friends have done a lot of fundraising for. I get a lot of pleasure from sending out the duck requests to families and the hospitals. I am learning new skills all the time and hope to take on a 10k race this year to do my own fundraising. Thank you to everyone for making me feel so welcome and fully involving me in the new office makeover.”
Clair is chief organiser and is currently re-organising the Give A Duck office following a refurb – more on that soon!
