Lace Up for Give A Duck

Lace up for Give A Duck this Autumn / Winter – walk, run, cycle, swim & more – the choice is yours!

With our biggest fundraiser of the year postponed until 2021 and the majority of all other fundraising events cancelled this year, we’re going virtual!

Every week around 30 children are diagnosed with cancer. We want every child diagnosed with cancer in the UK to receive a Chemo Duck to help educate, support and comfort them throughout their cancer treatment. We want siblings to feel supported too and offer Huggable Hope sibling duck as their special companion.
When?

Sunday 22 November 2020 (or a date to suit you!)

Where?

It’s a virtual event, so you can complete your challenge right where you live!

  • choose your distance
  • set your date
  • raise vital funds for The Give A Duck Foundation
How much is it?

It’s free to sign up!

How should I raise my sponsorship?

Set up an online giving page at JustGiving: https://www.justgiving.com/giveaduck

or

set up a Facebook Fundraiser

  • cashless (Covid-19 safe)
  • quick & easy to set up
  • easy to share the link with friends & family via social media/e-mail/text message
  • your sponsorship is paid directly to the charity – you don’t need to do anything!
When should I do my challenge?

Sunday 22 November 2020 is the date we invite you to complete your challenge (in place of the Leeds Half & Leeds 10K which are now postponed until 2021). But, if that date doesn’t suit you – you can choose your preferred date.

hOW DO I TRACK MY CHALLENGE?

There are various free fitness tracking apps available to download to your phone, log your training and share your challenge result with your supporters! (You can choose to share your route or just your distance and time, whichever you prefer).

You could also do a Facebook Live on the day you complete your challenge for your friends to view and send messages of encouragement!

Why do a virtual event?

2020 has been a challenging year in so many ways.  The charity has experienced a devastating loss of almost all it’s expected income.  By taking on your own virtual event and raising sponsorship, you will be helping to raise vital funds to help Give A Duck navigate through these uncertain times so that the charity can continue to support families facing childhood cancer.

Exercise lifts the mood, improve your quality of sleep, helps people lose weight and lowers the risk of some certain diseases as well as many more benefits to your health inside and out!  By taking on your own virtual challenge you’re looking after your mind and body too!

We can’t do this alone, but with your support we know we can face this challenging time together.

Research shows that by setting a goal and a deadline you will have the motivation to stay on track and work towards this date, giving you the confidence and encouragement to stick to your training and reach your goal successfully in the time given.

So what are you waiting for? Sign up today!  We would love you to join our 2020 virtual team and Lace up for Give A Duck!
