Road trip to Newcastle!

Newcastle 4
On Wednesday 25 January, Eve and Elaine attended the Newcastle Hospitals Charity first Charity Forum at Newcastle United.

The forum was engaging and informative and provided a great opportunity to network with other charities. There is something special about in person meetings and Eve and Elaine loved introducing Chemo Duck and Huggable Hope to the forum attendees – they are a great conversation starter!

After the forum, Eve and Elaine visited Great North Children’s Hospital The Newcastle upon Tyne Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and met Nursery Nurse Lisa Ternent and Dr Geoff Shenton on Ward 14 Paediatric Oncology Day Unit.

Lisa and Dr Geoff explained how Chemo Duck is used in a Kitten Scanner (a miniature scanner) to help the children to understand what happens when they have an MRI or CT scan. A great example of how Chemo Duck is used to prepare children for their treatment.

Receiving feedback from the hospitals we support is so valuable to how we develop and grow as a charity and the visit did just that! We’re looking forward to visiting the next hospital!
